چکیده
Chronic inflammation can lead to several diseases that represent the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Conventional treatment carry some risks. Therefore, research on herbal medicine are suspected having anti-inflammatory effects, such as Piper betle L., is important. This study aims investigate effect P. L. extract nitric oxide a pro-inflammatory mediator. The dried leaves were extracted by ethanol. RAW 264.7 cells treated with LPS and (PBE). Nitric was measured Griess method. Antioxidant activity determined using 2,2–Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) Total flavonoids phenolic content also identified aluminium chloride Folin–Ciocalteu colorimetric assay, respectively. demonstrated PBE has excellent NO suppression IC50 56.22±16.41 μg.mL-1, without cytotoxicity. DPPH inhibitory concentration values 279.67±11.36 ppm. Interestingly, flavonoid 50.17±3.14 mg QE.g-1 128.92±1.2 GAE.g-1. These compounds thought be responsible for its well antioxidant. proved could used candidate drugs. Nevertheless, further about biological mechanism their bioactive compounds' purification still required. Keywords: Inflammation, lipopolysaccharide, Macrophage, Oxide, betle.

Two new sphingolipids from the leaves of Piper betle L.
Two new sphingolipids, pipercerebrosides A (1) and B (2), were isolated from the leaves of Piper betle L. Their structures, including absolute configurations, were determined by spectroscopic analysis and chemical degradation. These two compounds did not show significant cytotoxic activity against the cancer cell lines K562 and HL-60 in a MTT assay.

Piper betle L., more commonly known as betel or local name of Sirih, belongs to the family Piperaceae. Previous researches had shown that the leaves of P. betle possess tremendous beneficial effects including antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, wound healing and gastro-protective properties. This is due to the present of the two bioactive component; propenylphenols; which is the Hydroxyc...

INTRODUCTION Previous studies have shown that Piper betle L. leaves extract inhibits the adherence of Streptococcus mutans to glass surface, suggesting its potential role in controlling dental plaque development. OBJECTIVES In this study, the effect of the Piper betle L. extract towards S. mutans (with/without sucrose) using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and on partially purified cell-as...
متن کاملAntimalarial activity of methanolic leaf extract of Piper betle L.
The need for new compounds active against malaria parasites is made more urgent by the rapid spread of drug-resistance to available antimalarial drugs. The crude methanol extract of Piper betle leaves (50-400 mg/kg) was investigated for its antimalarial activity against Plasmodium berghei (NK65) during early and established infections. The phytochemical and antioxidant potentials of the crude e...

Achillea millefolium L. is a member of the Asteraceae family and has been used in folk medicine in many countries. In this study, 19 compounds in A. millefolium essential oil (AM-EO) have been identified; the major components are artemisia ketone (14.92%), camphor (11.64%), linalyl acetate (11.51%) and 1,8-cineole (10.15%). AM-EO can suppress the inflammatory responses of lipopolysaccharides (L...
